GREEN TIPS: Food Matters

Last night i came across "Food Matters" movie while browsing Netflix.
I thought it appropriate to dedicate today's GreenTips post to it. TRAILER IS HERE.
As you may have assumed, i have watched a lot of information on the food industry subject. What i thought was interesting and different about Food Matters was its concentration on the drug industry myths and food intake influence on our health, as well as alternative methods of treatments that the drug companies as well as the government don't want people to know about.
They also paid a lot of attention to "superfoods" which subject i find refreshing. (Superfoods are a special category of foods found in nature. By definition they are calorie sparse and nutrient dense meaning they pack a lot of punch for their weight as far as goodness goes. They are superior sources of anti-oxidants and essential nutrients - nutrients we need but cannot make ourselves. We all may be adding more salads and vegetables to our diets, but concern over the quality of foods grown on mineral depleted soils makes Superfoods an intelligent choice. )

The key points that impressed me the most in the movie:
1. The function of doctors and medicine should be to guide your body to the place where it can fight off infection/disease on its own, NOT treat the symptoms of the disease.
2. Free healthcare is a good idea, but granting access for everyone to a system that is broken anyways will not solve the problem. The only solution is to EDUCATE the people to be healthy to the point that in the majority of cases they will not need healthcare at all.
3. Threat of vitamin overdose is bullshit. They have been treating multiple diseases including depression and cancer with Mega-Dose Therapy treatment for decades. Little known fact to public and doctors. What a surprise! Since its cheap, effective and has no side effects.
4. Traditional medicine is extremely effective and groundbreaking for immediate life-saving treatment only, but useless and even harmful for long-term. That is where getting your body into better shape nutritionally comes in.

I thought the movie was a good flick for anyone that wants some additional information on exactly why our health/food industries are in such poor condition, as well as anyone taking a long list of prescription drugs to help put doubt into their dependancy on traditional medicine.

Is it organic health food propaganda? Yes.
Do I mind organic health food propaganda? No.
Is it geared towards making money for people who advertise their services as alternative medicine doctors, nutritionists and authors of health books? Yes.
Do i mind giving money to people who help heal naturally, grow organic food and try to decrease the harmful impact on our bodies and our planet, instead of drug companies, gen-mod laboratories and pesticide producing plants? No, i do not.
If you do, i guess you should skip the movie and this post all together.

But if you are against propaganda, switch off the next drug commercial when it comes on as well. Or any other commercial for that matter. Don't full yourself into thinking that advertising is something other than propaganda.
Also, keep in mind that there will always be cash flow. People will always sell their services. And people will always spend money. It just depends who you chose to give your money to.
It can either be the large pesticide corporation or the local organic farmer - THAT choice is yours.

In my mind its not a matter of saving money, its a matter of distribution. You can either spend your money on cars, games, clothes, toys, doctors, drug companies etc. and "save" on food, OR instead spend your money on organic food and eco products, which will cut down on your certain other "desired" purchases, but on health risks as well. The amount will be about the same, but the quality of your life and the world impact - well, much, much, different.

We are so used to bargain shopping, that the lower price seems to be the no-brainer choice. But if you remember that all the money you "save" on food now (and much much more) will have to given away to doctors in a couple of years, you realize that putting your health on lay-away plan is not such a good deal after all.
Its also hard to make the choice for a seemingly more expensive lifestyle not only because of the higher expense, but also because it involves taking responsibility, certain amount of research and thought. And for a lot of people that is hard to do. It is much easier to buy what's advertised and do what's told by the same people that create diseases and issues because they sell the "treatments and solutions" for them.

But for those who feel nauseous at the thought, welcome to the club :) !

Lesbian Vampires and Viva Van Story

Last year while participating in a fashion show in New Jersey we managed to squeeze in a couple of quick shoots in our hotel room. Including a lesbian vampire-esque theme starring yours truly, Marlo Marquise and a stripper pole. Yes, we always travel with a stripper pole *wink*

Designs were developed by us while experimenting with victorian and gothic themes. They were sewn from PVC and faux silk brocade. We most likely will not be working much with PVC in the future due to it being recycle and biodegrade process unfriendly, but i was very happy with the way the look of the dresses turned out.
In my zeal the make them skin-tight, the red dress turned out to be extremely small, but the day will never come that i will actually complain about stuffing a bare bottom of a stunning girl into an extremely tight garment. (yes, you got me: it was all part of the master plan. hehe.)

I thought me and Marlo had great chemistry and i am very happy with the shots :)

And on another, no less exciting note, i want to share some images we got back last week from the pinup photography queen herself, Viva Van Story.

I have admired Viva for a very long time, waiting for a favorable opportunity to work with her, and when we got asked to supply a garment for her shoot with SharonTK and Chest Von Ellem, well i jumped at it.
I have been eager to develop lace/latex lingerie set since we only started experimenting with the lace/latex combination (about a year ago). And even though i have noticed other latex designers now using the same idea, i still consider it to be our personal "know-how" and will insist on us being the pioneers of the technique.

This retro girdle, bra and panties set features amazing olive green latex we recently got from Kink Engineering and hot pink stretchy lace.
I think the hat and the setting complimented the look perfectly, as did amazing make-up by Red Dodge.

It was our 2 year anniversary last week! Happy birthday Collective Chaos!

It all started with a radical idea that art can and should be worn. Everyday is unique, so is every mood and every person and so should be every outfit to reflect that.
Dressing people in clothes did not seem like a big step from painting them (we used to do body painting). I wanted to make clothes that are like paintings: unique, bold and extremely creative.

Chaos is the original void, the ever changing environment that gives birth the whole universe. It is everything that is born out of nothing. It is the original symbol for creative process.

Two years later, we have a long list of faithful returning clients, top fetish models we work with on regular basis and some of which we can even call friends, many wonderful followers and fans. We also have our own photography business, which has yielded to many magazine publications and a big, rich portfolio.

Eco-sense is a personal and professional passion of mine. I wanted to create a company that was as much ecologically conscious as my personal lifestyle is. And as hopeless it may seem to create a sustainable business in one of the most disposable industries, that is precisely the industry that needs it the most.
Actually eco-fashion and up and coming these days. More than anything i want Collective Chaos to be a part of it!

At CCD we use and reuse every piece of material we can. We use energy saving light bulbs, appliances and our stationary is recycled and printed with soy-based inks. Our rubber comes from a fair-trade supplier by the most ecologically sound shipping method. We are also working on getting all recycled shipping materials and use only bio-degradable shipping packaging, when possible.

We love our fetish fan and customer base because of their open-mindness and artistic freedom they allow us. I love latex because it is the material that allows me the most freedom when putting my insane ideas to life: it allows me to create wearable applique paintings, collages, if you will, that i have dreamed of from the beginning. On top of all that, it fits amazingly and is 100% natural rubber.
And yet, i miss the textures, breathability and patterns traditional materials allowed me.

As much as i love latex, i do not consider myself a latex designer, neither, a fetish one. But no worse to me is the notion of joining the masses of mediocre mainstream designers with no taste and plagiarism talents at best. Shock factor is not what i am after and it seems that is all mainstream wants these days.
I stay away from trends because they pass, leaving behind only true, universally beautiful and unique items. I want my art to be among those items.
Ideally, I would like to step outside any labels or categories all together, to be known as the designer of art: wearable eco-friendly art that appeals not to social group or categories, but to people's visions and their hearts. I would like my designs to represent what i most believe in: green world, our roots, sensuality, functionality and inner beauty.
I know its too much to ask for. I know each designer wants to step outside the norms and create unique lasting pieces, or at least they claim they do. Well, who knows, maybe i will be one of the few to actually succeed at it.

What all this means is that our company will slightly change directions, or more like add some more directions to the existing ones. We will work on developing an eco-friendly fabric collection using, among other materials, organic cotton and bamboo fabrics, natural lace and feathers.
I will start work on a new website and company look (hopefully with a web store (yay!)). We will be taking the direction of a more couture company, working on one time execution pieces.
This does not, of course, affect the completion of a million latex designs that still need to be realized :)
This change will only expand our horizons and hopefully completely eliminate limits :)

I hope that as our mainstream customers have been open to our latex designs, we hope our fetish fans will be open to our traditional fabric ideas.
And as usual, we would love to hear from you, if you have anything to say on the subject.

Tailoring at CCD

Latex has a reputation of being extremely stretchy and therefore requiring little tailoring, after all why would you tailor fabric that allows a tube made out of it to fit your body perfectly?
Well coming from a traditional fabric background, and it makes me smile when people assume its the opposite, i am used to making the garments fit perfectly using the necessary amount of princess seams, darts and curves. I simply cannot give up the knowledge of how clothing should be constructed, working with latex or not. Therefore i tailor all the garments down to the millimeter.

Half of the process of order completion at CCD goes to tailoring. We take all your measurements, verify them and apply them to the individual pattern.

Could i skip that, simplify the process, make it faster and possibly cheaper?
Yes, i suppose.
Will i?
No.
Why?
For the simple reason that when our customers give me feedback that our garments fit them down to a millimeter - well, i know they are not exaggerating.
That is what i hope they have come expect form us. And that is what we will deliver.

GREEN TIPS: Your Green Office/Work

Judging from the amount of time we spend at our offices and other work locations, it is only logical to pay special attention to making sure they are efficient and green as possible. And it is not an excuse if it is not our cost or responsibility if you are working for someone else. As cliche as it may sound - we all share the same planet. We can all make a difference.

Here are a couple of simple things each person can do in the work place to make it more efficient and eco-friendly:

1. Use both sides of the paper, whether printing or copying. If just one in four workers would do this, in a year the savings would equal to 130 billion sheets of paper - a stack thicker than the diameter of the earth!
2. If possible, carpool. It saves gas - money for you and clean air for everyone.
3. Use a ceramic cup for your drinks at work: we use more than 14 billion paper cups every year - enough to circle the world 55 times! and the styrofoam ones will stay here for NINE generations.
4. Don't use disposable stirrers: just pour in your creamer and sugar first, then coffee. And for sugar and creamer - don't use disposable packets!
5. At lunchtime, use silverware and ceramic plates for food, instead of disposable. Ask for less packaging if ordering takeout. Store your food in glass or ceramic containers. Try to save on napkins - an average American uses 2,200 two ply napkins per year. And if you do end up with waste - dispose of it properly.
6. Try using recyclable/recycled labels - most make it impossible to recycle the envelope to which they have been stuck - or try printing directly onto the envelope. Use recycled and recycle paper. Use an eco-stapler which does not use metal staples: 643,000 metric tons of staples are produced annually in the USA! Avoid using rubber bands - they are made from crude oil (synthetic rubber) and pose serious health hazards when thrown out.Try using refillable pens, pencils and markers. Disposable pens will be in the landfill for fifty thousand years...

All in all, try telecommuting for work and conferencing. Its cheaper for you, earth AND you can do it in your pijamas :)

And now i leave you with a personal recommendation of mine: I absolutely LOVE these. Very original and make me feel very good every time i sharpen! You can by them in office supply stores or online.

Company changes

Our company will be going though some changes over the next few weeks.
The changes will be bitter-sweet for our customers:

1. Starting September 1st we will not be renting out items any longer. Thank all the customers who have recently damaged or have failed to return our items all together.
2. On the good side, due to the above, we will be selling off some samples that were previously available for rent at extremely reduced prices!
3. Also, to free up some time for new projects, we will be deleting some of our networking accounts - we would love to hear from you asto which ones we should keep and which to do away with.

Vacation Mode

As a lot of you may know, we are going to be overseas for the next couple of months.

As for the business side, there will be a 4-6 week delay in order fulfillment and we are offering a 10% off all direct orders for the inconvenience. we will resume our regular schedule in august and are looking forward to Libertine, August 14th and Montreal Fetish Weekend, September 4-6 to keep us insanely busy as soon as we come back LOL. There also be vending of our items at the Fetish Con in Florida through Passional Boutique!

We will be updating our blog and other accounts, so please stay tuned!

In the meantime, please feel free to email us with your direct orders, but please keep in mind that we will have interrupted internet service and well as no cell phone reception, so it might take us a day or two to get back to you!

A big portion of this trip will be dedicated to promoting and opening up the European market for ourselves, scouting for partners and models, as well as visiting my family whom i have not seen for years. It is such a rare opportunity to be able to take off for a long period of time together and this will mark our first overseas family trip.

I miss home. I miss Ukraine. Its my inspiration and my happy place. Between the best beer, richest culture, greenest forests and the most beautiful women, i sometimes wonder what i am still doing here. The problem is however, as one of my friends put it, we grew up here, in the US. It is true, i became a self sustaining adult here and it is hard for me to imagine getting by anywhere else. But habit might not be the best strategy of future planning and therefore i keep my mind open. I would like to see what future holds and what opportunities my home can offer me.

If choosing according to the level of life and amount of opportunity, it is no brainer that US takes the prize, for now at least, but only at home i feel like i can breathe, like everything that surrounds me is a part of me. I understand the people, the good and the bad. And i do not know which is more important for me, and most importantly, whether there is a way to do both: have a successful business that is close to my heart and live in the place where my heart is at.
I hope that this trip will answer a lot of my questions.

People That Rock: Marlo Marquise

A couple months back we attended a Philadelphia Tattoo Convention. At the end of the night, it was time for the show and everyone was jammed into the performance room, impatiently awaiting performance. The music started and an adorable pale-skinned, black haired burlesque dancer appeared on the stage. She gracefully danced to a song that was a bit untraditional to the burlesque act, slipping out of her corset, skirt, gloves, stockings and when the audience thought they already got their money's worth by glaring at her wonderfully feminine glowing body, clad only in red shimmery pasties, a matching g-string and a couple simple tattoos, she jumped into a bath.
A bath full of blood.
The blood bath number, inspired by the story of Countess Elizabeth Báthory, who allegedly killed hundreds of young women to bathe in their blood and is considered one of the original vampires, has been done before, no doubt, but i have never seen it done with such elegance and passion.
The act, of course, got approval, whistles and cheers form the crowd.
And I could not help but smile because the dancer on stage, the rising star of New York Burlesque was actually a very good fiend of mine, Marlo Marquise.
I met Marlo a couple years back when i invited her to walk for us in our fashion show for Montreal Fetish Weekend and we have stayed in touch ever since. She has modeled many designs for us and done numerous shows. She is a very sexy, sweet girl with nostalgic eyes that hide a bit of darkness that likes to come out sometimes and play. But here, let her tell you about it herself:

1. How did you get into this burlesque/modeling mess anyways?
I grew up idolizing women like Marilyn Monroe, Bettie Page, Vivien Leigh, Yvonne de Carlo etc. I wanted to be a glamorous lady and show girl, with a dark edge. I started off performing two years ago at my friend's party TRASH! in NYC. Everyone seemed to love it and I started getting approached by local Burlesque shows, and now I perform 2-3 times per week. With modeling, I was actually always really shy, but modeled for friends in art school. Since I was doing Burlesque, and all the original NY Burlesquers from the 1940's did pinup photos to promote their shows, I decided to do the same. I was already styling myself like a 1940's pinup in daily life, so it just made sense. I joined modelmayhem, and within 2 days I had Kathleen Elizabeth contact me and it all kind of spiraled out of control from there. In a good way!

2. Why do you like NY?

I love NY for it's diversity. You can eat any cuisine at any given time, do virtually any actvity any time, meet people from all over the world, and get naked in the streets! I grew up only 2 hours from NYC upstate, so I've always been very familiar with the city.

3. Favorite desert?
Cookies and vanilla soy milk or cupcakes from my favorite bakery. They have ginger grapefruit frosting!! To die for!

4. Favorite performance routine? where do you get inspirations/ideas for your acts?
My favorite act at the moment is my Blood Bath routine. It's inspired by the legend of Elizabeth Bathory. She supposedly killed over 600 young females and bathed in their blood to keep her youth. My kind of woman! I love fake blood! Bathe in it. Prefer the highest quality. Blood is always sexy, fake or real. I buy so much fake blood I get a discount at the Halloween store now because they know me!

I get inspiration for my acts from every single little thing I come in contact with. I could look at the color of a swaraovski rhinestone and think "I LOVE this color and HAVE to make an act that includes it!" OR I take a female icon who has influenced me as a person and develop something based off of their role in society/history. For example I have always been obsessed with Ancient Egypt, and Cleopatra since I was a little girl. I am now developing an act that is an ode to Cleopatra and her greatness. Inspiration can come from anywhere. The hard part is putting it all together, song, costume, props, etc.

5. Favorite past time?
Cuddling on my couch with my two puppies and lover. I rarely get a chance to do that these days, so when I do I greatly appreciate it. Same goes for a bubble bath while eating strawberries!

6. A word on fashion?
Be original. Be yourself. I don't follow trends. I peronally dress mixing vintage looks and modern together. I've always done that, even before pinup became big again. I always say I'm a mix of 1930's, 40's, and 1990's. My favorite designers are Betsey Johnson, BCBG, Alexander McQueen, Vivienne Westwood....and Collective Chaos Design!

7. What is your attitude towards sexual role playing? what is you favorite role/position?
I think everyone should at least try something new in the bedroom every once and again. Role playing is fun, not for everyone. The only role playing I do is dom/sub. It depends on my mood. I'm 50% dominant and 50% submissive. You never know which one you're going to get! Some people bring out the more dominant side in me, and then other people I want them to take control. I don't have a favorite "position". I like different ones for different reasons.

8. What makes your parts tingle?
Men who are feminine and masculine at the same time and women who are masculine and feminine at the same time.

For example, manly men who wear makeup, nail polish or can put a dress on and still be sexy. Women who look super feminine and glamorous but have dirty mouths, smoke cigs and can handle a stick shift car. Also, intelligence and ambition.

9. Who do you want to be when you grow up?
A really naughty Veronica Lodge from the Archie comics! I think I'm almost there!

10. What is the story behind your tattoos?
My Lambs represent a few things. I've always been fascinated with stories from the bible, even though I myself am not religious. The lamb in the bible represents the right hand of God, and it's job was to help wipe away all sin and restore innocence. I like that idea. Also, lambs are my favorite animal, they are cute, kind and gentle. I feel if I were an animal, I would be a lamb. I have two, a boy and a girl. I'm a bit of a hopeless romantic, so I like the idea of love. My hearts are a story I will keep to myself.

11. A word on female self expression, erotica and porn?
I'm all for it. I think as silly as it sounds, America is very prudish. In Europe what I do is seen as beautiful. In America posing nude and performing I'm seen as a slut, a sexual deviant, or just a "stripper". I'm okay with the term stripper. If it was good enough for Gypsy Rose Lee, it's good enough for ladies like me. People need to be more comfortable with their sexuality. It makes for a healthier and happier life.

12. What can we expect on your future paysite?
A lot of unseen photos that are more naughty than what I release to the public. Exclusive sets, behind the scenes video. Fetish videos, live chats. I will have a scrap book of travels, a journal. I will have hair and makeup tutorials, photo sets with girls behind the craft like designers, photographers, performers who are not models, etc. I also paint, there will be a section for my art. So many things I can't even think of them all right now. I will say that it will be different from any other paysite you have seen. I have a great web designer/ marketing manager helping me.

13. Tell me how it feels to perform, to be on stage.
Being on stage is very liberating, fun, and scary. It's not like a photo, you are on stage LIVE putting yourself up for criticism by strangers with no photoshop, or video editing to help you. They watch your every move. I love doing it, even on the nights I really don't feel like performing. A lot of precision and acting is involved. As a performer I need to make it part of my job to stay in shape and look as good as my photos. All my extra money goes to costumes and props, and wardrobe for shooting. Just modeling is one thing, but being as successful at performing is a whole other level of stress, and energy. But I am happy to say that this is the career path I chose. I love every minute of it.

I personally feel very strongly about recycling and other eco-practices. It seems the reason of why are pretty obvious.
But everyday i deal with people that either do not know about the green attitude or do not care. This is extremely surprising and even shocking to me. Hence, i have decided to dedicate some time and space on our blog to green tips and info.
As an eco-conscious company it is important to us personally, as it is professionally.

And what a better place to kick off the topic than our kitchen? Because not only lettuce should be green there, but our attitude as well!

1. Give composting a shot! Especially if you have a garden or plants! Save all your fruit and vegetable scraps - you will grow a better garden and drastically decrease amount of organic waste in landfills.

2. Use ceramic or glass containers instead of plastic for storage! They do not leak chemicals in your food and save you money by lasting longer and doubling as cooking containers!

3. Get a good water filter to save money and waste on bottled water!

Shocking fact of the day: 1.5 million tons of plastic are used in the bottling of 89 billion liters of water each year. Thats enough plastic to make two water filters for every household on the planet!

Personal recommendation of the day: Zero Water Filter. It produces better water than bottled water!

It has been such a pleasure and honor to count the World's Favorite Asian Fetish Model among our chaos girls and call her a friend. Jade Vixen has been on top of the fetish scene since before i even had the dream of fashion, let alone latex, and in many ways i refer to her as a guide. In the most recent past months she has organized the Fetish Evolution Show for us and got her gorgeous ass into most of our new designs (and promptly got out of them on her site www.jadevixen.com ).
We love Jade for her support, drive and sincerity and of course of how hot her boobs look in that Polka-Dot Dress!

Today we officially sit down with her to talk about latex, fetish modeling and dirty secrets :)

1. So how did you get into this modeling mess in the first place?

I started wearing fetish fashion when I was still in high school and a club kid growing up in New York City. I did a few shoots when I was younger, but was more of a clothing collector until three years ago. Then I began to take modeling more seriously and started actively pursuing publications and developing high end content about three years ago. I am very attracted to the aesthetics of fetish fashion: the extreme silhouettes and the skin tight and shiny materials.

2. What do you enjoy the most about your fetish model status?
Modeling for great designers like Collective Chaos! :-) AWWW!
Being able to call dressing for the camera my full time job. Collaborating with great designers and photographers to showcase new fetish fashion designs.

3. A word on latex fashion?

Support the fetish fashion and latex designers, not their cheap knock-offs from China. Handmade outfits require a lot of ingenuity and care by the designer. Fit is everything. It is most worthwhile to invest in well fitted unique latex and fetish fashion outfits, not some saggy baggy imitation made of a poor grade of latex that looks nothing like the advertised photo. You get what you pay for. - DamnSkippy!
That being said, support your designers and their innovative designs that they work hard to produce.

4. Most important modeling tip?

Meticulous attention to detail defines my shoots. My goal is to make the entire scene (including myself) look as good as possible.

5. Your biggest fetish?

It's a split between latex, corsets, and extreme fetish stiletto heels. I live to dress myself in kinky outfits.

6. Your dirtiest secret?

Lol! I have no secrets at this point in my life. - Yeah right!

7. Your biggest ambition?
To conquer the world :-), just kidding. To find the best gin martini in existence :-) - Give us a call when you do!

8. Your favorite dessert?
Ooh! It's a split between the fancy Îles flottantes I had in Montreal during Montreal Fetish Weekend, or homemade madeleines.

9. What else do you do?

I have my own member's site, http://jadevixen.com that I work on extensively. I am a photo retoucher, fetish performer, and occasional DJ.

10. What are the three things people don't know about you and would be surprised to find out?

I'm really really geeky- double major science degree for undergraduate studies.
I love to cook and take very bad pictures of my creations with my Blackberry camera.

Fetish Evolution Aftermath

As you all may know, we had the privilege to take part in the German Fetish Evolution event this year in Essen, Germany. This was our first major European Event. Thanks to our wonderful sexy sidekick, Jade Vixen, who took it upon herself to organize the show for us, it was a great success!
We were able to present a couple of dresses from our new Polka-Dot Latex Collection and show off a few exclusive applique dresses!

Its been a very productive and rewarding couple of months for us here.
A new collection is scheduled for the end of May, many new designs and orders to brought to life and many shoots scheduled to show them to you!

When we got ready to implement our idea of a "bird in a cage" to life, there was only one person to do the job: Kess M. She is known for her unique look, flexibility and strange yet effective posing.
Here we feature some shots from the shoot by Corrupt Image Data and a couple of questions answered by Kess.

1. So how did you get yourself into this modeling mess?

It came out of a personal tragedy, and became the one thing that kept my spirits up and got me out of my house. It was my life for a while.

2. You are pretty well known for your posing, where do you draw inspiration for it?

I just bend and try to do things that look unnatural. Those things usually end up looking interesting.

3. So what else do you do anyways?
I am a full time student, about to head off to grad school.

4. Most important modeling tip?
Have fun. Don't be afraid to try new and strange poses. They might look silly, or you might stumble on something truly amazing.

5. So why exactly do you like being naked?

I actually hate being naked. I never sleep naked, I never just wear a towel, the only time I get naked is to shower or to shoot.

6. What is the craziest shoot you have ever done?

Probably the most extreme thing I did was hang upside down by one foot for much longer than I should have. I had fun though because it felt like I was an acrobat.

7. What are the three things people dont know about you and would be surprised to find out?

- I love to do jigsaw puzzles.

- I bake my own bread from scratch.

- I can't wait to settle down and live a quiet life.

8. So where to next?

Quiet! More school, then the real world.

With the new Bizzare cover and other major publications, Mosh does not need much introduction these days. Her fast rise to the top of popularity is legendary, even though she, unlike her competitors, does not seem the least bit affected by it. She is as determined and down to earth as ever, working hard, while making it look easy, to produce high quality content for her site, as well as photographer and designer portfolios.

With the introduction of our new Couture Design: The Rose Cage-Dress and Hat, modeled by Mosh during her last trip to the East Coast, we though it would be only appropriate to ask our favorite chaos-girl a couple of questions:

1. How has your life changed, if at all, since your first cover of Bizarre magazine?

-I still work the same and shoot the same, but I love having these covers and they mean a lot to me. I certainly get more people commenting that they saw me on the cover of Bizarre and that they took notice of my work. Bizarre has been really great to me, I owe a lot to them for putting me on their cover, twice!

2. The most important modeling tip?

-Be yourself with a strong touch of professionalism.

3. You have gone through some dramatic changes in your life: leaving your homeland, giving up gymnastics, leaving East Coast and your family: do you ever miss any of it?

-I've visited the motherland a few times since I moved. I don't miss living there, I'm very happy with where I am. Visiting is nice though, it gives me nostalgic memories and scents to remember. A long time ago I dreamed about having to quit gymnastics, back when I was still training vigorously, it made me so sad because its what I've been used to doing for years. I miss spending the time with my coaches (my parents) and my teammates, but I'm happy about not being a part of it today. Leaving the east coast was hard, I miss my family and friends. I left just about everything and everyone I know and moved to a place almost 3000 miles away. I really love where I am now, but from time to time I start to miss the east coast and my family. Many people have this same story and we all make this move for one reason, to pursue our dreams. Mine is to further my ambitions and plans as a model and designer.

4. So what else do you do anyways?

- I run my own paysite, themoshroom.com. When I'm not doing that I'm working on my upcoming lipstick line and shoe line. There's another little line that I might drag one of my favorite designers into :) Thats something I'll talk about later when the plans are further along production.

5. A word on fashion?

-Don't follow the trends. Follow what truly looks fabulous on you, even if someone says its outdated. After all, isn't that what fashion is about? Making you feel fantastic and look your best?

6. Granny panties?

-One of my fetishes. I own dozens upon dozens of these. I love wearing the sheer pairs under vintage dresses, in shoots, in bed, wherever!

7. What’s your fuel?

-The desire and love for what I do. I'm beyond lucky to be able to do it everyday, and it just fuels me further to continue to do it. When you're truly happy in life you don't really need something else to to be ambitious.

8. And personal life?

-I'm very lucky there too. I found someone who shares the same interests and love for what I do. Even though I primarily rely on my own drive to do what I do, his support helps me in so many ways.

9. What are the three things people don’t know about you and would be surprised to find out?

-I don't know about any surprises but I used to play guitar, I played for about 5 years.

- I was voted most likely to walk to the beat of my own drum in high school, not really a surprise there though.

-I was a cheerleader for something like 10 or so years. People always reply to that with "I don't see you as a cheerleader type". I wasn't really, at least not in your typical high school cheerleader sense, I hated being at games. I loved competitive cheerleading however, I was on a competitive squad for at least 5 or 6 years.

-We will all have to wait and see!

Professor of Philosophy stood up in front of the class of students, got out a glass jar and place a couple of stones into it.
Then he asked the class:
- Is this jar full?
- Pretty full - answered the students.
Then the professor got out some dried peas and poured them into the jar, filling in the empty spaced between the stones.
He asked the class again:
- What about now?
- That looks pretty full. - answere the class.
Then the professor took out some sand and slowly poured it into the jar, filling all the empty spaces.
- How about now?
- Well, now it is most definately full, sir! - answered the students.
So then the professor got out two bottles of beer and slowly emptied them into the jar, saturating the sand.

Professor paused and then said:
- Now I want you to understand that the jar symbolizes your life. The large stones - the most important things in it, such as health, family, friends - your life's foundation.
Peas stand for the things that are important to you personally: your work, house, car, hobbies.
And sand stands for all the other little things that fill your lives.
If you pour the sand into the jar first, there will not be any room for peas or stones. The same with your life - if you fill it with little things, there will not be any room for the vital ones. Its is very important to prioritize and fill your life with things according to their value: most important first - and only then the rest.

At that the professor started cleaning up and put away the jar.
But then one stundent raised her hand:
- But sir, what does the beer stand for then?
The professor smiled.
- Well, thats simply to show you that no matter how full your life gets, there is ALWAYS room for two more bottles of beer.

Today we are talking to an absolutely amazing person with many interests and talents. She is a singer, a make-up artist, a saddle expert among other things, and simply an all way round colorful character.
We have worked with Anna as a MUA during our fashion show at Capitol Punishment and were impressed by her dedication, strong vision, speed of her work and most importantly: her fun presence.

1. So how did you get into make-up anyways?
I've always been an artistic person. I was a painter in high school (oils mainly), but I didn't really have an interest in doing make up professionally until someone I worked with at a club pointed out one night that I was actually good at it. I used to be kind of crazy looking for several years, and did my make up differently almost every night.Eventually, I asked a friend who had a job as an MUA and she referred me to her boss. The first MUA job I ever had was in the begining of 2005 at a dept store working for prescriptives and it just kind of went from there.

2. What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
I don't know if this is "crazy" but its pretty spontaneous! I quit a high paying job in nyc back at the end of 2006, moved back with my parents for two weeks, working for my dad like a dog, so I could save up money to live in France for a month. I honestly don't think I am the only person who has ever done something like that, but it set me back quite a bit after doing that!

3. So what else do you do?
Aside from being a freelance MUA and working a fulltime job(for Clarins,mainly a skincare line but we aslo sell color), I am currently a vocalist in philadelphia based electronic group, Vicious Alliance. We are currently working on a full length album.

4. You have lots of tattoos. Which one is your favorite and why did you get it done?
That's actually easy to answer. The celtic cross and knotwork just below the back of my neck. My grandmother was creamated, and therefore has no grave I can visit her at. She is my mother's mother, and we were extremely close. Its my memoir for her. She was a trully amazing woman.

5. What is your fuel?

Hazelnut coffee!!

6. Who is your favorite cartoon character?

Jem! Oh god now I am seriously showing my age 8P

7. What are the three things people would be surprised to find out about you?
-I used to be able to name every part on an english saddle. I was very into horseback riding as a young girl

-I LOVE geography and maps. Its the nerd in me.

-I have an NRA non members card! HAHAH!

Phantom Orchid rocks

In this issue for "People That Rock" we draw our attention to Europe, particularly Spain, where an absolutely amazing photographer, Monica Camorro (Phantom Orchid) resides and creates her magic. With a recent book cover and numerous publications and awards she is internationally known for her vibrant, precise and intrigueing photography style.
Having had the honor to work with her once, we count her us one of our personal all time favorites and it is our outmost pleasure to give you a bit of insight into her magical mind and art.

1. When and why did you become “Phantom Orchid”?
Funny because this is the first time someone asked me about this.
It was around five years ago when I was having a chat with my best friend and she told me about her favourite flower. The Phantom Orchid. I later looked for more information about that strange variation of my fave flower (orchid) and while reading its dark description and story, no matter how strange it sounds I felt that was totally me. I use it as my alias just for my darker/alternative work.

2. What is usually your first thought when you wake up?
Honestly? Photography. I admit I'm a bit obsessive about it. I think it's because I usually do too many things at the same time

3. When and how did you get into photography?
My grandfather was an awarded photographer and I grew up surrounded by cameras and art. At first I prefered drawing, painting, making all kinds of handcrafts.
When I first had a computer for myself (1995) I started with digital art and studied Graphic design & Multimedia. In one of those classes they ordered us a photography project. I enjoyed it so much that I finally realized I wanted to become a photographer - around 2001.
I worked as Graphic Designer for a few years to save money so I could afford to set my traditional photo lab at home, buy my camera, all the gear, and of course, start the Photography Career.

4. What is the most amazing thing you ever took a picture of?
Shooting many big catwalks this year. Especially Vitorio & Lucchino and Custo. I know it's just catwalks, but being a part of that made me feel so alive.

5. Who/what is your biggest inspiration?
I am not sure about that, I think it comes a little from everywhere. From my past, from movies, magazines, and I admire so many artists, the list just never stops growing.

I have a bunch of ideas and projects I plan to undertake as soon as I can.

6. What is your favorite dessert?
Hmmm.. difficult choice... maybe strawberries covered with chocolate.. I fancy some now!

7. What are the three things most people don’t know about you?
- I worked as tattoo artist long ago.
- I am totally and utterly in love with Scotland. I feel really pissed if I can't get there quite often.
- I am afraid of birds since childhood (I had a parrot that suddenly got a dreadful tropical disease. Vet said it was mortal and contagious to humans and my family and me were terrified for weeks. Nothing bad happened, but I don't like birds near me anymore).

Hat Tutorial: How to attach a veil to a mini top hat

We have been asked to do this tutorial so many times that we decided to finally do it LOL :)
So here it is, guys: The magic of attaching a veil to a hat. 5 items. 5 steps.
For this tutorial we will use this mini top hat i just finished: Felt frame upholstered with faux silk and gold pvc.

1. Hat

2. Scissors

3. Needle and thread

4. About 1 yard of veil

5. About 1 yard ribbon

1. Start by gathering the veil with needle and thread on one side.

2. Repeat for side two. And pin to the hat as desired :)

3. Attach the veil lightly along the ridge between the brim and the top, gathering it evenly.

4. Now get that ribbon and attach on top of the hat along the seam of the veil. You can do this with glue or by sewing lightly. Or simply by tying it around the hat. Just make sure that the top of the veil does not show.

5. Use your best judgement to decorate and finish the hat :). In this example I actually was not happy with the curve of the ribbon around the brim of the hat, so i put in a little dart on the front, which made a v- shape. And on the back i created these round shapes with the ribbon and let the rest drape. I think it gives it a great steampunk feel :)

Here you have it! Mission accomplished once again :)

In this November issue of the "People that Rock" category, where we present you with amazing people and their work, we direct our attention to an amazing youg lady from CA, who have been making quite a buzz with her unbelievable make-up and blogging work - Doe Deere.

Since she has moved form Russia a couple of years ago, she has come such a long way, simply driven by her dream and purpose "to spread glee". Her "Lime Crime" make-up line, known for its absurdly bright colors, is quickly acquiring a customer base and a name for itself in the fashion world.

Here is a short interview with Doe for your reading pleasure:

A: When did you get crowned as queen of unicorns?
D: I pronounced myself the Unicorn Queen when I realized a lot of things in my house is unicorn-related. I identify with unicorns because they are colorful mythical animals who are loners - when you see one, they are always on their own. In addition to my obsessive love for color, I feel that I am here to do a lot of things on my own.

A: As a queen and as a person, what are your most favorite and least favorite things to do?
D: I enjoy wearing beautiful clothes and makeup, and inspiring others to do the same. After all, feeling good about yourself is the first step to feeling good about the world. Least favorite thing? Probably being misquoted in some way, that's always annoying.

A: How did you get into make-up business?
D: I started posting makeup tutorials, but could never find anything with good-enough payoff. I wanted fantasy looks when you have an eyeshadow or a lipstick that barely shows up, it limits your creative flow. So I decided one day that enough is enough and launched my own line. Now I can wear lipstick and eyeshadow that I love every day! :)

A: Do you feel like your heritage has influenced your work, how and to what degree?
D: You know, it's something I often wonder myself, just how much of what I do is the result of my Russian-ness. I think I've turned out the way I did because of it just as much as in spite of it. Russians do have a penchant for color and extravagance, but they do it in a distinctively vulgar way. I'm anti-vulgar.

A: What is your fuel?
My fans & customers, for sure. They are what keeps me going! I am also easy inspired by things, especially fashion.

A: What is your most reoccurring dream (when you sleep)?
Flying. I always can fly in my dreams, it's the best feeling ever! Wheeee!

A:What are the 3 things that most people don’t know about you and would be surprised to find out?

That I'm soft-spoken, get cold very easily and have yet to get paid by my company, haha.

HAT TUTORIAL: How to make a Blood Gothic Latex Hat

You asked. We listened>Here comes our new Latex Hat Tutorial!!!!!! (tutorial supplies shopping guide now lives here :) )

Over the next couple of pages we will reveal to you how to make a tear drop shaped latex upholstered hat with feathers and a cameo!!! So get your items list ready and lets go!

Tutorial I. " Blood Gothic Hat". In 13 steps with 13 items!!!

PART I

1. What you will need:

1. Tear drop buckram hat frame
2. A piece of black latex (0.4 mm)
3. A piece of felt
4. A piece of self-adhesive felt
5. Latex thinner and glue
6. Feathers
7. Hot glue gun
8. Cameo
9. A hat comb
10. A piece of veil
11. Surface: A cutting board and a piece of glass
12. Scissors
13. Double sided tape

Make sure your work area is clean and you have a couple of hours to yourself :)

2. Attach the felt to the buckram hat fram with double sided tape. Smooth the felt over the frame.

3. Clean the latex piece with latex thinner. Apply latex glue to the latex piece and the border of the buckram frame.

4. Lay the latex piece crefully on top of the felt-covered frame and secure it in the front and the back by pressing the glued pieces together. Do the same for the sides. Stretch just enough to get even coverage, but not enough to warp the frame.

Hopefully after some trial and error you will end up with something like this :)

5. Cut out the frame shape from the self adhesive felt. Make small cuts all aroung the shape with scissors.

6. Peel off the back and crefully insert the felt into the under side of the frame. Making darts where you made the cuts earlier to fit the rounded shape of the frame.

7. Glue the border of the hat.

8. Attach a piece of latex strip about 1/2" wide to the side, covering the border of the felt and slightly touching the latex border of the hat. Stretch the latex strip to get even coverage throughout.

9. Clean the hat from any extra glue and powder the seams.

PART II

10. And now on to my favorite part! Decorating the ready frame!!!

Heat up your glue gun and take out the feathers. Glue the feathers to the hat how you desire. Be creative! Start from the front and make your way back, covering the ends of the feathers with others feathers.

11. Glue the hat comb to the bottom of the hat.

12. Take out the rest of the fun stauff - the veil and the cameo!!!

Gather a piece of veil and pull the veil through the pendant attachment on the cameo.

13. Pin the cameo to the hat and arrange the veil and the feathers around to to make it PER-FECT!
